The new Chief Executive Officer of Twitter, Elon Musk has revealed that fake accounts that do not specify that they are parody accounts will be permanently suspended.
Musk who took to his Twitter page to further enlighten users on further modifications made on one of the very popular social media applications said that any form of name change will cause verified users to lose their blue tick.
“Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying “parody” will be permanently suspended,” Musk wrote.
“Previously, we issued a warning before suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning. This will be clearly identified as a condition for signing up to Twitter Blue. Any name change at all will cause temporary loss of verified checkmark,” he added.
Earlier the Telsa CEO had effected the $8 dollar subscription fee for the new Twitter blue. His introduction of the subscription fee had sparked various reactions from users.
The most recent upgrade shows how quickly Mr. Musk has changed the social networking company he recently bought. Over half of the site’s employees as well as the bulk of its top executives were sacked by the billionaire in the week after the acquisition of legal ownership.
Newsbreak Nigeria had earlier reported how Musk took full ownership of Twitter after months of dithering, legal disputes, and verbal mudslinging over the $44 billion deal to purchase the social media platform.
