The former US president Donald Trump’s account has been restored on Twitter.
Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter and its CEO, polled the site’s users on Friday to determine whether Trump should be given his account back.
In the latest Saturday survey, 51.8% of respondents favored reinstatement while 48.2% disapproved. More than 15 million people voted in the survey.
“The people have had their say. After the poll’s conclusion, Musk tweeted that Trump would be reinstalled.
Following the post-2020 presidential election crisis, in which a crowd of Trump’s followers invaded the Capitol in Washington, D.C., Trump’s Twitter account was suspended in January 2021.
Trump hasn’t tweeted or said anything about the reinstatement yet.
The news comes just a few days after the former president declared his intention to run for president of the United States of America in 2024. Trump utilized Twitter as a crucial messaging channel to respond to several contentious tweets when he was in the White House.
