Two men, Barnax Anyanwu, 52 and Adelangan Micheal Kolawole 35, have been arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court for an alleged N5.5m fraud.
The defendants are facing a five-count charge of obtaining money by false pretence, stealing and forgery.
The prosecution told the court that the defendants and others still at large conspired to defraud one Chief Augustine Obi sometime in 2012. They allegedly collected the money under the pretext of allocating a two-bedroom apartment to him at 41 Road, A Phase, Block 2 Flat 3, Festac Town, Lagos, a representation known to be false.
Also, they were said to have presented false documents from the Federal Government Landed Property to their victim.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 361, 409, 278 and 319 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.
The presiding magistrate, Martins O., granted the defendants a bail of N1million with one surety in like sum.
Martins added that the surety must be a civil servant and must reside in Lagos.
