An Uber Driver in Lagos has escaped death after raising an alarming following a threat on his life by two boys he carried as passengers.
The suspects, Michael Tobiloba, 23, and Ismaila Yusuf, 18, were arrested while trying to kill an Uber driver around Fela shrine, Agidingbi area of Ikeja.
Confirming their arrest to newsmen, the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, said the suspects boarded the cab as passengers from Ojota. During the trip to Fela’s shrine, the duo tried to kill the driver.
The Lagos State police boss said while being driven from Ojota to Fela’s shrine in Alausa, Ikeja, the men brought out a gun and robbed the Uber driver of the sum of N80,000, a Tecno Spark 8 mobile phone and other personal belongings.
He said that the driver raised an alarm that attracted a police team on routine patrol.
“The policemen reacted swiftly and chased the suspects leading to the arrest of two of the robbers while others escaped. One English-made revolver pistol was recovered from the arrested suspects.
The suspects were identified as Michael Tobiloba’ m’ aged 23 and Ismaila Yusuf’ m’ aged 18. Both suspects also confessed to be members of the Buccaneer confraternity’’, the police boss said
