The Lagos zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arrested two businessmen for allegedly defrauding a new generation bank of the sum of N7.3 billion.
The suspects, Ogbor Elliot, Managing Director, Danium Energy Services Limited, and Godwin Okoronkwo, Managing Director, Petrosol Energy Limited, appeared before Justice O. Oguntoyinbo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos
The duo are standing trial on a 10-count charge bordering on obtaining under false pretense, conspiracy and forgery of the said sum.
According to the EFCC, the suspects used forged Purchase Orders, PO to hoodwink an undisclosed new generation bank into granting them credit facility to finance the sale of Automotive Gas Oil valued at several billions of naira to a major oil marketing company.
The suspects, who are members of a syndicate of fraudsters, were picked up by operatives of the Commission following a complaint by an employee of the bank.
