The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two female suspects in connection with the death of one Osita Anwuanwu, 64, in the Arida area of Ikotun in Lagos State.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Muyiwa Adejobi, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), it was discovered that after investigation, the deceased had gone to check his lady friend, one Juliet Eguebor, 35, at a pub and an argument ensued among the deceased, his friend and one Ngozi Emezue, 38, the owner of the pub.
According to the police, the argument aggravated to physical assault and in the process, Osita slumped and died instantly.
The two suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
The statement read: “Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have again arrested two suspects for the alleged killing of one Osita Anwuanwu, 64, in the Ikotun area of Lagos State on April 8, 2021, around 8.45pm.
“The daughter of the deceased, Linda Anwuanwu, reported to the police at Ikotun Division that she was informed that her father, one Osita Anwuanwu, 64, was lying unconscious in a pub at Arida after he had a misunderstanding with one Ngozi Emezue, 38, and Juliet Eguebor, 35. Police operatives from the Ikotun Division raced to the scene and rushed the deceased to the General Hospital, Igando, where he was certified dead.
“According to preliminary investigation by the police, the deceased had gone to check his lady friend, Juliet, who he had not seen for some time, at Ngozi’s pub, where he and the suspects engaged in a hot argument and physical assault before he slumped.
“The two suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba, for proper investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Osita Anwuanwu.”
Elsewhere, the police personnel attached to the Ikorodu Division have arrested one Wisdom Okoro, 50, from Orlu in Imo State, for the sudden death of his girlfriend, one Enobong Udoh, 38, on April 11, 2021, around 10.45am.
The statement read: “One Blessing Pius reported to the police that the deceased was found dead in her house, opposite Meras Hotel, along Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu, on April 11, 2021, around 10am.
“Police operatives swung into action and invited her boyfriend for interrogation and he, Wisdom Okoro, confessed that the deceased informed him that she was pregnant In February and he was in her house to check on her on April 10, 2021, around 5.14pm when the deceased informed him that she had terminated her pregnancy.
“The utterances of Wisdom revealed that he had some questions to answer. The state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered that he should be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba for further investigation.
“The CP assured the general public, especially Lagosians, of thorough investigation into the cases for justice to prevail.”
