The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has denied lifting the visa ban imposed on Nigerian travellers.

Recall that the UAE government had banned Nigeria and 19 other African countries.

However, on Monday, following a meeting between President Bola Tinubu and Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE president, the presidency announced the end to the ban.

But in a turn of events, a source who spoke to CNN said the visa ban still stays, contrary to reports.

“There are no changes on the Nigeria/UAE travel status so far,” the CNN source stated.

The Presidency is yet to comment further.

However, on Tuesday, when asked about the ban, spokesperson to the President, Ajuri Ngelale said, “Given the agreement struck between the two Heads of State, there is a need to allow cabinet officials from both sides to work out the finer details and finalize the cross-sectoral agreements.

“Everyone can now allow the process to work itself out organically, devoid of speculation.”
