Kano Pillar’s Technical Adviser, Ibrahim Musa, has said that the players are still hurt by the death of the club’s assistant captain, Chinedu Udoji. He said the team will need to be psyched up ahead of Sunday’s fixture against Enugu Rangers.
Pillars and the Nigerian football fraternity were thrown into mourning when the news of Udoji’s death broke last Sunday. He had played and was voted man of the match against his former team, Enyimba same day, but died in a car accident while driving back after visiting his old teammates.
Musa admitted that raising the spirits of the players had become a problem on his hands.
“That is my problem, because yesterday (Tuesday) when I called a meeting in the stadium to discuss (Udoji’s death) we know we can’t forget Chinedu, but we have to concentrate on our work first,” said Musa.
“We know we’ve lost Chinedu, he’s a great player for the team. So my problem now is to psyche the guys to start coming back because all their minds is not in football now.”
Kano Pillars are second on the NPFL league standings.
