Students of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos (UNILAG), came out in their numbers on Friday to Idi-Araba in the Surulere area of Lagos State to protest the killing of Stephen Urueye, a doctor working with the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

Urueye was said to have been stabbed to death by armed thugs in front of LUTH gate on Thursday night, a day after he convocated from UNILAG.

It was gathered that the victim was rushed to the emergency wing of LUTH on after the attack on Thursday.

He, however, died on Friday morning after efforts by doctors to keep him alive were unsuccessful.

Upon the announcement of his death, some students converged at Idi-Araba to protest the killing of the fresh graduate doctor.

The students were joined by doctors in the protest and carried placards with different inscriptions, lamenting the increased activities of armed thugs at Idi-Araba, where LUTH is situated.

The protesters also demanded justice for the late Urueye.
