The Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has been ordered to pay 110 ex-workers wrongly sacked from its employ in 1996. The affected people comprised academic and non-academic staff of the university
The National Industrial Court, deciding on the case in Abuja, on Monday, also directed the university to reinstate the affected ex-workers
Justice Peter Lifu, the court president, said the termination of the ex-workers appointments was illegal while also asking the university to comply with all the recommendations of the 2004 and 2010 Presidential Visitation panel.
The plaintiff’s lawyer, Femi Adedeji, said the judgment “is very fair; they (ex-workers) deserve their entitlements,” he said.
