SANS Technology Institute, a United States company that specialises in information security and cybersecurity training, has rejected an applicant for being a Nigerian.
In a mail to the applicant, the institute said Nigeria is one of the countries it does not accept applications because the United States Department of State lists Nigeria as one of the countries designated as ‘State Sponsors of Terrorism’.
President Donald Trump of the United States had in January placed Nigeria on the list of countries restricted from immigrating to the US. Nigeria was said to not be sharing information with the International Police Organisation (iNTERPOL).
In similar vein, an employer in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), stated in its job vacancy that applications from African candidates will be considered except those from Nigeria.
The vacancy for merchandisers was advertised by Shirley Recruitment Consultants in Dubai.
This comes after Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi, had been arrested in Dubai by the police for defrauding the US government of hundreds of millions of dollars. He was arrested with Woodberry, his accomplice.
