A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Nicholas Felix, has said there was no need to suspend campaigns.
Newsbreak.ng reports that the US had issued a security advisory alert, especially to its citizens in Abuja, with the Department of State Services (DSS) asking Nigerians to remain calm.
Reacting, Felix, who is the Deputy Youth coordinator of the APC PCC, however, advised that security should be beefed up at campaigns.
“I don’t think the alert is strong enough to want to make the APC cancel any campaign. But, of course, there will be a need to reinforce,” Punch quotes Felix as saying.
“I was just watching on TV how the DSS was telling everybody to be on alert. I want to believe every political party will take extra precautions because of this.
Speaking on the need to deploy more security operatives, the former presidential aspirant said: “We should be expecting that. But it is not strong enough to call for outright cancellation of campaigns or rallies.
“After all, the Federal Government did not say people shouldn’t gather. It only said people should be at alert.”
