Following the publication of a video on Elliot’s Instagram page four days ago showing the deployment of handwashing bowls, taps and sanitisers in different areas of Surulere, the Nollywood filmmaker turned politician has been criticised by several Nigerians on social media over the gesture.
Despite the provision of the materials in Olodeokuta, Ojuelegba, Love garden, Hogan Bassy, Masha bus stop, Shirts bus stop, Adelabu, Iponri, Bode Thomas and Ishaga Road axis of Surulere, some had questioned if the lawmaker could not have facilitated other measures such as the provision of food materials or money to individuals badly affected by the impact of the lockdown in his constituency.

Elliot, however, in a video recorded in his office stated that while he welcomes constructive criticism, he was taken aback by what he described as “the negativity on the social media”.
The lawmaker insisted that he is contributing to society in his little way and urged his critics to do the same rather than simply hide behind the keypads of their phones to criticize him.
