A repentant bandit has claimed they were supplied AK-47 rifles with which they terrorised some parts of the country.
He however did not state if it was the state or federal government.
He said said Fulanis are farmers and herders and know nothing about guns. He stated that the government send them the weapons. He claimed it has been like that since he was in school.
He lamented that it is shocking that he found himself in this way of life, reiterating that Fulanis have always been farmers and herders.
“I swear to almighty God, it is the government that is arming us. We Fulani don’t know guns, we only know how to rear cows.
“Cows don’t give birth to guns. We just sat down and the government supplied us guns,” he said in his local dialect.
“I am not afraid to say the truth. I attended Islamiyya and when I finished my school, we were given these weapons. I am wondering what I will do with my life now.”
