Muhammadu Sanusi II, dethroned Emir of Kano, has claimed that he can reclaim his position if he wants.
Sanusi was deposed by Kano State government on Monday, after a long running battle with governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
According to the state government, the former emir was dethroned for insubordination, among other allegations.
However, speaking on the allegation against him for the first time, Sanusi noted that he could have challenged his dethronement in court if he wants to.
He stated that the Kano government did not give him the opportunity to defend himself.
“I Would Have Used Ganduje’ s English Unprofessionalism To Win Him In Court But I Don’t Want To Return.

“I’ve done what I could in 6 years. I’m moving on. The truth is I don’t want to go back. The (dethronement) letter was so badly written, so unprofessionally written.
“It is the easiest thing in the world to go to court. Fair hearing…High Court ruling, just like today. Did you query him? Did you ask him to defend himself? No. We should go on with the new phase in life,” he said.
Sanusi arrived Lagos on Friday night from Nasarawa, where he was banished to.
However, a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja ordered his release.
