A taxi driver arrested for violating the lockdown order declared on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has stripped down his clothes to protest the impounding of his vehicle.

In a video which was broadcast on Africa Independent Television (AIT) and circulated on social media, the unidentified driver was seen undressing down to his genitals in front of the FCT Task Force team, which stopped him for driving an overloaded vehicle of passengers.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on 29 March declared a lockdown on the FCT in a bid to curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the capital city.

The FCT has 56 confirmed Coronavirus cases, the second-highest behind Lagos State.
However, the taxi driver protested his arrest, saying the lockdown has intensified the hunger felt by himself, wife and children as no relief package has been distributed to him.
According to the visibly aggrieved man, the lockdown was worse than Coronavirus.

President Buhari will address Nigerians by 7pm on Monday to provide an update on the country’s fight against the virus and declare whether the 14-day lockdown order – which expires at midnight Monday – will be extended or not.
