Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State, joined hundreds of youths who besieged Ibadan, the state capital, on Saturday to participate in the June 12 protest.
Various groups scheduled demonstrations on June 12 – designated as Democracy Day in Nigeria – to protest against the state of the nation and the governance of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The youths vociferously cheered on as the vehicle of Governor Makinde, who drove himself to the venue of the protest, arrived at the protest ground.
Governor Makinde stopped his vehicle at the centre of where the majority of the protesters gathered, with the youths hailing him for joining them.
After the euphoria subsided, the governor addressed them and urged for calm and peace throughout the duration of the protest.
See below the video of Governor Makinde at the protest ground as shared on social media.
