A weird cat has attacked and caused serious injuries to seven hefty Pitbulls. The cat, apparently raging, left one dog and its owner requiring medical attention. The walking group, Pit Bulls of Victoria in Canada’s British Columbia, had been attacked after the cat sprang out of a nearby garden. Kyla Grover, who was with the group, said the dogs had been calm before the attack. She said even as the attack was ongoing, the dogs kept their calm.
“The dogs were walking by, completely minding their own business,” she told The Vancouver Sun.
“The cat just goes at all of the dogs, not backing down.
“The pit bulls and pit bull crosses were leashed and none of them fought back.
“They just began barking after the attack began.”
The owner of the cat, Del Thompson, said the cat, named Baby, was intimidated by the presence of the dogs had attacked them scratching and biting them. Thompson and his wife agreed to pay the $222 veterinarian bill for the dog with the injured face, Bandida. Bandida’s owner, Javiera Rodriguez, handed them the bill Tuesday and they wrote her a cheque.
“The vet hospital thought it was a raccoon that attacked her. She’s on antibiotics,” Grover said.
Del Thompson’s wife Betty Jean, 78, said she is mystified by the public interest in the incident. She said she was tending her garden when a group of women walking seven large dogs approached on the sidewalk and one of the dogs showed a friendly interest in her. Beside her lay Baby, the stray, cream-coloured cat that adopted the Thompsons almost 16 years ago. Thompson said the dog crossed the lawn. She said she warned the woman walking three of the animals that a cat was nearby, and the walker immediately tried to tug her pet back toward the sidewalk. Thompson agreed that her cat “set on” one of the pit bulls that was on the property, but she says the cat did not leap out of bushes to attack the dog.
