A Port Harcourt, Rivers state parish of self-styled fire-spitting Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries reportedly embroiled in turmoil on Sunday, as members warred over alleged conspiracies by some of the church’s leaders. The aggrieved members alleged the so-called leaders are wont to stealing and diverting church funds and always conspiring against anyone who attempted to get in their way. They attributed the sudden removal and transfer of their pastor, Lanre Adekunle from the church to the antics of the conspirators. Adekunle was said to have been posted to the church barely two months ago and was purported to have taken prudent measures on church finances, to the disfavour of the alleged conspirators. The situation reached a boiling point on 27 December, as members protested publicly.
Owned and led by a former teacher, Daniel Olukoya, the hard-praying M.F.M is regarded a fast growing Pentecostal church in Nigeria, complement with educational institutions, among which is the Mountain Top University, and a football club.
