The Lagos State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Eddy Megwa, has said that the state orientation camp has not recorded any case of coronavirus.
Speaking on TVC’s Your View early on Thursday, he said Lagos NYSC was able to maintain a COVID-19 negative camp because everybody adhered strictly to the guidelines and ensured that people were tested before coming in.
“As the corpers are coming in, we ensure that they are tested before they were admitted into the orientation camp, and if they are negative, we allow them to enter, but if positive, they are being taken care of by the NCDC officials on ground who will immediately take them into isolation centre for two weeks. Until a corps member is fully registered nobody address them as corps members. They are called prospective corps members,” Eddy said.
The state coordinator disclosed that “because of the spread of the virus, we cannot put those tested positive in the orientation camp. We usually start counting the day of service for the corps in this category, because they have been called up for national service, they are only isolated because of their health conditions occasioned by COVID-19,” he said
