The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied accusations that it placed the giant broom structure at the entrance to Abuja, the country’s capital city.
Lanre Issa-Onilu, the APC National Publicity Secretary, debunked the party’s involvement in the placement of the structure in an interview with Channels Television.
The broom, which is the symbol of the ruling party, is placed right in front of the Abuja City Gate, a national monument which welcomes both Nigerians and foreigners to the country’s capital city.
Some Nigerians, especially on Social Media, had questioned the rationale of having such a partisan structure mounted in front of a structure of national importance.
But Issa-Onilu said the APC was not responsible for its placement, adding that it was done by a group of Nigerians who wanted to show their solidarity with the ruling party and President Muhammadu Buhari.
The APC spokesperson told those opposed to the broom placement, especially the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to create and mount their own structure if they are disgruntled with the one currently placed at the city gate.
