Muhammed Kabir Labar, the Sarkin Fulani in Abeokuta, has disclosed that 23 herders were killed in the recent crisis in Ogun State.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting attended by Ogun governor, Dapo Abiodun, Ondo governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, Zamfara governor, Bello Matawalle, Kebbi governor, Atiku Bagudu, and Niger State governor Abubakar Sanni Bello, Labar also said about 20 houses belonging to his tribesmen were burnt during the incident.

He blamed the crisis on “strangers” who disrupted peaceful co-existence enjoyed in the state over the years, and further stated that those elements are bent “on setting our people against one another by whipping up ethnic sentiments.”
