One person was burnt to death and three others were injured as another petrol-laden tanker exploded in Anambra State on Tuesday.
The incident occurred at the Amawbia area of Awka, the state capital, the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).
Providing more details, Andrew Kumapayi, the FRSC Anambra Sector Commander, said the explosion happened at a welder’s shop as the welder was carrying out repairs on the tanker.

The FRSC commander said the welder was killed by the explosion.
He said: “An explosion occurred at a welders’ workshop around Amawbia Bridge in Awka about 3 pm from a tanker loaded with petrol.
“The explosion occurred when a welder in the workshop was carrying out welding repairs on the tanker loaded with fuel.
“The welder was confirmed dead, while three people who were around the scene of the explosion sustained various degrees of burns and have been taken to the hospital.
“The remains of the deceased had been deposited at the mortuary.”
Kumapayi said the state fire service had, however, succeeded in putting out the fire from the explosion.
