Godwin Obaseki, Governor of Edo State, has promised that the killers of Olajide, the brother of Omoyele Sowore, the convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, will be arrested and prosecuted.
Governor Obaseki said this in a condolence message to the activist issued on Saturday.
Olajide was shot and killed by unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers near Okada on the Lagos-Benin Expressway in Edo State on Saturday, according to the publisher of Sahara Reporters in a Facebook post.
Reacting, the governor described the incident as “heartbreaking”.
The statement read: “I commiserate with the Sowore family and the Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, over the death of his brother, Olajide Sowore.
“The news of Olajide’s death is heartbreaking and we will make all efforts to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to justice.
“On behalf of the people and Government of Edo State, I condole with the Sowore family and pray that God will grant all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
