Hakeem Odumosu, Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, says more suspects have been arrested in connection with the death of Super TV boss, Michael Usifo Ataga.
Odumosu disclosed this on Tuesday, during briefing and parade of over 1,000 suspects at the command’s headquarters in the Ikeja area of the state.
The police commissioner noted that Chidinma Ojukwu, the 21-year-old, who was earlier apprehended over the murder, is still a suspect with her rights guaranteed by the constitution.
Odumosu, however, failed to give further details on the number of new suspects arrested on the matter.
While dismissing allegation that the police is attempting to give Ojukwu a soft landing, he said giving details of those arrested might compromise the case.
“We have established a case of conspiracy in the murder and we have arrested more suspects,” he said.
Ojukwu, a 300-level student of University of Lagos (UNILAG) was tracked and arrested at her father’s house in Yaba, after she fled the apartment where Ataga was found dead on June 15, 2021.
She confessed to killing the business when she was paraded before reporters on June 24.
However, she reversed her stance in a recent video interview by Crime Fighters TV, saying nobody would have believed her if she had stated otherwise.
Also, the deceased’s family has maintained that the undergraduate could not have committed the murder alone.
