There was a show of power when President Muhannadu Buhari came to Lagos on Thursday to commission some projects.
Amidst tight security at the Police College in Ikeja, capital city of Lagos State, where the president is scheduled to commission some security equipment, donated by the State Government, which included Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC), operational buses and vans, bullet proof vests, ballistic helmets, arms and ammunition, among others, dignitaries who came for the commissioning were screened and frisked by armed military men, officials of the Department of State Services (DSS), policemen and other security agencies, who also patrolled the ground.
At about 12: 30pm, the Oba of Lagos Rilwanu Akiolu arrived at the venue with three of his chiefs, the Nation reported that ‘two of the chiefs were however prevented from entering the main venue’ with only one chief allowed inside.
However, when the Iyaloja-General, Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, arrived with her own entourage of three persons, the security allowed all of them into the venue.
Curious people who witnessed the incident were wondering how could a paramount ruler of the status of Oba of Lagos could be denied of his privilege and someone who is seeing as one of his subjects was given more preference than him?
This is a question for the security and the protocols during the Buhari’s visit to the Police College would be able to answer.
