Idris Oladejo, cleric of Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho, has explained why the Yoruba Nation agitator has decided not to disappear from custody.
The cleric, who is popularly called Imam Oladejo, told TheCable at the Benin Court of Appeal in Cotonou, that Igboho indeed has powers to disappear from custody, but has refused to use it for the sake of his wife and the Yoruba nation.
“Sunday Igboho believes in Allah and he hates cheating, especially cheating the Yoruba nation. He has those powers and they are from Allah.
“He can’t disappear here because he doesn’t want any problem for his wife, Oodua nation, Yoruba Nation. He hates problems, he’s a good man and that’s why I love him.”
Igboho escaped a raid on his house in Ibadan, Oyo State, by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), on July 1, 2021.
Consequently, the Yoruba activist was declared wanted by the DSS, while two of his aides were killed and 11 others arrested.
The secret police also claimed that guns were from recovered from the house, a claim Igboho has denied.
He was, however, arrested last week in Conotou, Benin Republic, while flying to Germany with his wife.
He has been facing extradition hearing at a Beninese court in Benin Republic.
