Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, on Monday said Nigerians should not be surprised by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC’s) arrest of Ahmed Idris, the Accountant General of the Federation.
Newsbreak had reported that Idris was on Monday evening arrested in Kano State in connection with diversion of funds and money laundering activities to the tune of N80bn.
Commenting on the trending news, Omokri noted that Idris should have been fired by President Muhammadu Buhari when he married a minor in October 2021.
Idris, a sexagenarian, had tied the knot with a 16-year-old in a secret wedding held at the time in Kano.
Omokri while reacting to Monday’s arrest of the top government official, made a flashback to Idris’ secret wedding with an underage, and submitted that Nigerians should not be surprised that he is being accused of massive fraud whilst serving under the administration of Muhammadu Buhari.
“To see how morally bankrupt Buhari’s Nigeria is, consider that the Accountant General of the Federation married a 16 year old girl. He was not sacked or arrested by Buhari. Should anyone be surprised that a man who married a 16 year old can also steal ₦80 billion?” Omokri wrote on his verified Twitter handle.
