Amuneke was unveiled as Tanzania’s head coach on Monday after signing a two-year deal.
The 47-year-old 1994 African Footballer of the Year winner, will also coach all the Tanzanian youth teams and will be assisted by local trainers for each category.
“Amuneke will be with us for two years, but the contract is renewable if he meets the set targets,” Karia said during Amuneke’s unveiling.
The former Barcelona winger’s immediate task will be to help the Taifa Stars qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
His first official game will be their September 7th, 2019 AFCON qualifier against Uganda in Kampala.
Tanzania were held to a draw in Dar es Salaam by Lesotho in their first Group L qualifying clash and are currently third in the group.
