In apparent defiance to the order of the Rivers State Government banning public protest in state, thousands of young people trooped out on Tuesday in Port Harcourt to join their voices to the #EndSARS campaign.
The protest which was peaceful saw the protesters marching around the River state capital before they converged on the Government House.
In a show of solidarity to their course, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike was seen addressing the crowd in a short video trending on the social media.
The governor was seen denouncing support for the operations of SARS while advocating for a total reform of the Nigeria Police.
Port Harcourt protesters have humbled Wike
This is our protest. Don’t let anyone go & speak on your behalf anywhere.
Anybody that has something to say to the protesters should come out openly & speak to the people#SARSMUSTENDNOW #EndPoliceBrutalityinNigeria
