Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is speaking for the first time since former chieftain of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Femi Fani-Kayode, decamped to the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wike mocked Fani-Kayode that he has no integrity and he should not be taken serious by well-meaning Nigerians.
In an interviews with BBC Pidgin, Rivers State Governor said that he is not friends with the former minister, as he only defected to APC in order to find something to eat, and enrich himself.
“I don’t know why people are shocked by Fani Kayode’s defection. People make the mistake of taking vocal everybody serious.
“Some people talk just for people to find them something to eat, some people talk because of the problems they have, so that they can be saved — if they will be saved.
“Me and Femi Fani-Kayode are not friends. I don’t like something that is too artificial.
“Stomach politics is not good. Nothing beats integrity,” he said.
On former President Goodluck Jonathan’s purported rumours of joining APC, Wike warned that if this is true, then Jonathan is making a journey to nowhere, as APC has no good intention for him.
He added that a critical analysis of the situation shows the APC doesn’t like the former President but only want to ruin his hard-earned reputation.
“I will tell him not to go anywhere. ‘These people don’t like you. You should know them very well that they don’t like you. What have they not said about you? Has all the things they said about you changed?’
“APC are only intent on bringing in PDP people who have a name, and destroy them so that they will not have anywhere to go again. That’s what APC is doing,” Wike said.
