Iconic Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has won the favorite Afrobeat category of the American Music Award.
Hosted by Wayne Brady the 50th Annual American Music Awards was held on November 20, 2022, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
The award was held to recognize the most popular artists and music within the eligibility period of September 24, 2021, through September 22, 2022.
This development comes as the musical icon continues to receive recognition for his hard work in the music industry.
Recall that Wizkid in September became the most decorated artiste in the history of the Headies Awards after winning five awards in the 2022 edition.
With 15 Headies awards, the singer of “Essence” has become the first individual since the award’s debut in 2007 to permanently inscribe his name in the Headies annals.
