A woman has been arrested in Abia state for selling her grandson to a ritualist on Tuesday. The State Police Command spokesman, Udeviotu Onyeke said that the woman had left the village with the three-year-old boy and returned after a week to declare him missing. He said her utterances while neighbours questioned her about the missing child triggered suspicion which led to her arrest. The suspect allegedly told the police she sold the toddler for N100,000 to a ritualist in Akwa Ibom and wanted to use the money to acquire a motorcycle. The police spokesman, however, said that the woman had since changed her statement, claiming that the boy was with her sister in Aba. He assured that the police would thoroughly investigate the matter to unravel the whereabout of the missing child.
