Three women has been arraigned before an Ebute-metta court sitting for allegedly abducting and selling a toddler.
The accused are Joy Okorie, 28; Uju Obieze, 40; and Ifeyinwa Ezena, 46.
They were said to have kidnapped two-year-old Blessing Ekene and sold her for N300,000 to one Ifeoma Okoye who is now deceased.
The defendants were said to have kidnapped the toddler with the intent to permanently deprive the victims parents, Mr & Mrs Ekene Nwaogbu, the privilege to take care of their daughter.
Police prosecutor, C. Nwadione told the court that the defendants committed the offence on May 1, 2018 at Olodi Apapa area of Lagos.
He said the offence contravened and is punishable under Sections 412 and 277(a)(b) of the Criminal Laws Of Lagos State 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
Presiding magistrate, A. O Adedayo, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties.
The case was adjourned till November 14, 2018.
