Defending champion, Caroline Wozniacki, advanced into the Australian Open third round after seeing off Sweden’s Johanna Larsson on Wednesday.
Wozniacki, who is seeded third at this year’s Grand Slam, triumphed over Larsson in two straight sets of 6-1, 6-3 to advance.
She could face Russia’s Maria Sharapova, who plays later on Wednesday, in a mouth-watering third round clash.
Speaking on her win against Larsson, Wozniacki said:
“She (Larsson) started making less errors, playing it deep, coming into the net and threw my timing off a little bit.
“I just tried to stay as aggressive as I could be until the and I think I served well when I had to.”
