Some workers of the National Health Insurance Scheme, on Thursday, said the reinstatement of the organisation’s Executive Secretary Professor Usman Yusuf is a mockery of President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption war. The aggrieved workers, acting under the aegis of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria and the Joint Health Sector Union, equally demanded his removal, just days after President Muhammadu Buhari returned him to office despite corruption allegations against him (Yusuf)
Razaq Omomeji, the Chairman of the NHIS chapter of the union, said the protests would continue until Buhari reversed Yusuf’s reinstatement.
Omomeji said Yusuf had bastardised the scheme and his return would only worsen affairs at the agency. Also, the protesting workers said Yusuf’s reinstatement will thwart the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s probe of the allegations against him.
