Babagana Zulum, Borno State governor, on Tuesday, conducted an impromptu aptitude test for some teachers in the state.
Zulum was said to have carried out the test on Monday for 65 teachers in Baga, Kukawa Local Government Area.
Zulum told the teachers that the test was not aimed at sacking any of them, but to help the state government determine their capacity and to know where to appropriately post them.
He noted that those who fail the test will be redeployed to the administrative department or given further training.
The governor also said evaluation exercise for teachers and pupils will be carried out annually.
After reviewing their performance on the aptitude test, Zulum announced a package of N20,000 and 10 yards of fabric for each teacher, while the principal of the senior secondary school and the primary school head teacher got N50,000 and 10 yards of fabric, respectively.
“As long as you will make meaningful impact to the society, we shall support you. We shall evaluate you, and those of you whose salaries need to be upgraded will be updated,” Zulum said, while addressing the teachers,” he said.
“Whenever I come back to this town again, I will call a teacher by name and determine the level of his capacity and that of his pupils.”
